Toolbox 2 – customer profile and store reports

As a kid, I came up with a small universe that was occupied by funny characters of all sizes, shapes and colors. I would consider many details before letting them out in the world: what they looked like, their hobbies and interests, and even their favorite food and smells.

During the lesson, I felt like that kid again. It was so fun coming up with stories for people behind the pictures! Just like in my small universe, characters in our world come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. They have their own interests, beliefs and experiences, all of which shape their shopping habits.

The whole world revolves around the customers. That is something I’ve  come to know as I worked as a shopping assistant and helped my parents with their own small businesses . This is the first time I have applied this knowledge to fashion. I am convinced this information will change the way I view the fashion market for a long time.

This Saturday, I went out shopping with my friends and couldn’t help but analyze the many people and shops I saw on my way. Every store is a small universe somebody once came up with. Some were empty and cold, others were filled with crowds of people, and the rest were comfortable with the attention they could give to the few customers they had.

Just like I did as a kid, the fashion teams needed to consider all the aspects customers  would need to feel at home. Only with the right characters in mind and the right conditions for them, the universe will be peacefully populated. I, as a creator, want to develop the skill of understanding my customers and giving them what they want, or, maybe, something they didn’t even know they wanted?
