Today we designed a pair of shoes for a collaboration with a brand of our choice. I decided to collaborate with a Spanish brand called “Dominnico”. Dominnico is a modern ready-to-wear brand, found in Madrid in 2016 by Domingo Rodriguez Lázarro. It is notable for experimenting with different materials and silhouettes, which makes it very popular among celebrities like Lady Gaga, Rosalía and Rita Ora.
Their collection “Omega” Fall 21/22 focuses on futuristic shapes and patterns. I really liked how youthful and playful it is. The models look like they came straight out of a futuristic anime. They are wearing very little makeup, however their hair are all colors of the rainbow, supporting the “Sailor Moon” – like feeling.
As a fan of anime and science fiction myself, I utilized the research I’ve collected from the Science Museum and Shoreditch and created a colorful boot that combines various materials, motives, shapes and colors from the collection.
